Woman wooed by billboard photo

A couple are getting married after a giant billboard helped the groom to woo his future bride.

Mick Bramman was initially turned down by Louise Cook when he asked her out.

However, he later came across Ms Cook's face on a billboard in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, advertising the funeral directors where she worked.

He sent her a picture of himself posing alongside it, which she thought was so funny she agreed to a date and their relationship blossomed.

Proper old-style weddings are back

Here is an observation by Rhiannon Lucy Cosslett from The Guardian:

Proper old-style weddings are back – and they’ve been worth the wait.
I went to a wedding at the weekend. That shouldn’t be a remarkable statement, but of course it is. It’s been a strange summer: the promise of normal life returning hasn’t quite materialised. Instead it has felt tentative, cautious. So I wasn’t sure how this big social event would feel. There was no cap on numbers, no social distancing, no miserable insistence on everything being outside, despite the season’s atrocious weather. It was a proper wedding, in the old style. And it was wonderful.

After 18 months of deprivation, I forgot what it was like to feel part of a community. Robbed of really celebrating these major life milestones – birthdays and anniversaries, births and christenings, weddings and funerals – life has felt atomised and dreary. That sense of connection you get from being around other human beings, including those you don’t know well, has been absent. So a huge, unapologetic, exuberant wedding was always going to be quite the experience.

The Ceremony - Where & When?

There are a number of points to consider when planning the date and venue of the ceremony.

* Is the marriage based on religious grounds?
* Do you want to be married in the eyes of God?
* If you have no religious beliefs you may consider a civil ceremony, perhaps followed by a blessing.

Wedding rules at 9th July 2021

Current rules for weddings - and how they are changing.
(Taken from the BBC website 9th July 2021)

There will be no limit on the number of people allowed to attend weddings, civil partnerships and receptions in England from 19 July.

The government plans to remove most Covid restrictions in England on that date, subject to a review of the latest data on 12 July.

How are the rules changing in England?

From 19 July, there will be no limits on the number of people who can attend services or receptions, whatever the venue.

Current rules about social distancing and face coverings will no longer apply, there will be no requirement for table service, and restrictions around singing and dancing will also end.

At the moment, any number of guests can attend a wedding ceremony or reception held outside, or in a Covid-secure public venue.

* Venues must comply with social distancing rules, which limit guest numbers
* Venues must provide table service
* Dancing and singing are restricted
* Face coverings must be worn indoors by everyone over the age of 11 when not eating or drinking, unless they are exempt. This includes staff, but not the couple or the person officiating

Weddings held in outdoors private settings - such as gardens - require a risk assessment to determine how many guests can be hosted safely.

A marquee or other structure in a private garden must have at least half of its walled area open to be classed as "outdoors".

Weddings in private homes can only take place with six people or two households present, unless one of those getting married is seriously ill, in which case 30 people can attend.

Wedding Caterers

It doesn't matter what budget you have set for your wedding, you will find that one of the biggest spends will be on the food you will be serving to your guests. Therefore, choosing the right wedding caterer will prove to be an important step in making sure you have a memorable event.

Often, caterers will have a variety of foods that they offer, yet they are able to specialise in a certain type of cuisine. If you happen to have a particular theme in mind, or you are using a motif that speaks of a certain era, you might want to find a caterer that specialises in that required taste.
